A special CBI court in Rohtak today sentenced Rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim to 20 years in jail. A special court was set up in Rohtak’s Sunaria jail, in which the judge Jagdeep Singh sentenced Dera Sacha Sauda chief and rapist Ram Rahim to death. Upon hearing the punishment, Ram Rahim started crying on the ground. To pronounce these sentences, the judge was brought from the helicopter to Panchkula to Rohtak.
15 years ago in 2002, a Sadhvi sent an unknown letter to Baba for rap. Today, 15 years later, Ram Rahim has been awarded the punishment for his misdeeds. Even before the announcement of the punishment, the supporters of Dera started violence in Sirsa and handed two vehicles to the fire.
ABP News correspondent Jagvinder Patial told that during the sentence, Gurmeet Ram Rahim was dressed in white and demanded mercy from the judge for tears in his eyes. To protect Ram Rahim, the lawyer argued for being a social worker. However, rejecting extortion charges, the judge sentenced Gurmeet Ram Rahim to 10 years’ imprisonment. Upon hearing the punishment, Ram Rahim started crying on the ground.
Decision came on August 25
On August 25, the CBI special court had convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the 15-year-old rape case of Sadhvi. After this, supporters of the Rape Dera Sacha Sauda have made a lot of violence in Haryana-Punjab. The number of people killed in this violence has reached 38 now. In Panchkula, 32 people and Sirsa have died.
High Court directives to government
Supporters of the Dera Sacha Sauda on August 25 have committed heavy violence. In which 38 people have died so far. In view of this, the Punjab-Haryana High Court asked the Haryana government to make special arrangements for today. The High Court said that the judge should be taken to the prison by air way. The entire system should be made to go to the judge of the CBI court. In prison, there is a judicial officer, staff security arrangement. Prior to the sentence, the Deputy Commissioner of Rohtak had said that if the miscreants did not accept the warning then the bullets could be run on them.
